As most of you know, I’m doing an article marketing experiment on one of my sites. The idea is to submit 30 articles in 30 days using Unique Article Wizard. If you want to read the original post about the experiment, you can read it here: 30 Articles In 30 Days.
I’ve had a few people request a mid-month update and I thought that was a brilliant idea. So far the experiment is going very well. If you read the original post, you know that the site I’m doing this experiment on had made $561 in the 30 days before I started.
So far, I have submitted 14 articles (I know, I’m 2 behind right now) and those articles are getting submitted as we speak. If you have UAW you know that you can choose how quickly your articles get submitted – I have mine set to do 50 submissions per day. The categories I’m submitting to have a total of over 1,200 sites so the process is going to take 24 days for each submission to complete. Even though there is still a lot of submitting that’s going to be done (and 16 more articles to submit), I’m already getting results that are very positive.
In the last 7 days, I have made a total of $169.64 on that site. If this pace continues, I’m going to make $751 on the site this month. That total includes New Year’s Day, and the site made basically nothing that day for obvious reasons. The cool thing is that I’m not even half way done with the experiment and since the articles I put in are still being submitted, a pretty small percentage of the benefit has come through.
Since I know that people are going to ask if I did anything else to promote this site, I’m just going to answer that question now, I haven’t. It’s been over a month and a half since I did anything else to this site so that work was already priced in to the $561 in earnings.
Update: Mark and I have made an advanced UAW screencast for anyone that has purchased the service through our affiliate link. I walk you on-screen through how to use the service, what you can do with it, and how we go about getting the most out of our submissions. If you have purchased UAW through us and would like the video, email me your name and when you signed up for the service at court[at]courtneytuttle[dot]com. I’ll send you a link that you can use to download the video!

What monetization method(s) is being used on the site? Adsense? Amazon? Ebay? Other affiliate programs? Other CPC programs?
Great question – it’s 100% Adsense.
That was exactly what I was going to ask. Please, enlighten us.
Also, what about a link to the site?
Ben I wish that people were trustworthy enough for that! Unfortunately my experience has shown me that it’s a bad idea to reveal the sites where I make money this way.
Yah… there were tons of copycat sites for your Colorado Lasik site… you’re on top now, of course, but it was sad… I mean, I’d love to see the site, but I totally understand why you wouldn’t want to show. I had someone close to me steal one of my niches, so I totally understand why you want to keep it quiet.
I have been using your keyword sn***ng methods I learned back in February, and made almost $14,000 last year… (I work full time, so I can’t devote too much time to IM yet) But, I never did well with adsense. I do Amazon almost exclusively, but I’d like to diversify.
Can you do a post soon on here about picking keywords that do well with Adsense? Obviously product related keywords do well with Amazon, but I never found a good keyword for Adsense.
Thanks a bunch.
Ya, what he said lol.
We’ll do you one better than that guys! We’ll create a comprehensive program where we outline the entire process for setting up a portfolio of sites that earn great money with adsense. It’s ready now, and extremely affordable. Send me an email and you can check it out.
(Sorry, Court – couldn’t help myself)
I’ve been learning so much about keywords and SEO from following your blog!! Thanks so much for posting and running this! Do you worry that [G]oogle will frown upon dicussing [a]dsense revenue? I heard this was a no-no but see people with MMO blogs do it all the itme. I’ve hear that they will slap people with bans really fast for just about anything, any truth to that?
I think it’s ok to discuss your revenue, just not your CTR.
Ya know, I see those one page sales sites and hit the little X in the top right of the window. Instead, I read blogs like yours and get the information for free (alright, some things are deduced through logical means).
Every time I land on one of those pages I feel like I’ve walked right onto a used car lot…
Hey Court,
you say that you did not do any other promotion with the site before this. So does that mean its a new site?
If it is then wont submitting 30 articles to an article distribution service get you banned for your keyword? banned as in sandboxed
I thought we were supposed to go slow with new sites?
Hello,
You say you did not do any other promotion with this site before this so does that mean that it is a new website?
So in case the site is new then wont submitting 30 articles via UAW be a bit overkill? wont that get you sandboxed?
I always thought we were supposed to go slow with our new sites..
Thanks for sharing this update. Question – are you at a point where you’re leaning away from Article Marketer? Or is the jury still out?
Thanks again,
Tina
Tina honestly UAW is just plain a lot better than Article Marketer. That said, I could do a similar experiment with AM and still get growth. It just wouldn’t do as well as this experiment.
Are you seeing traffic from these articles or just a growth in ur search engine position? if your seeing traffic, how much of an increase? if your seeing search engine rankings improve, how many spots have u gone up?
I’m not 100% convinced about UAW but I’m not 100% not convinced either….
I’m also interested if you are receiving the traffic from article directories (which I doubt) or it’s still all about backlinks and serp improvement?
It’s all about backlinks and serp improvement. There’s not a better tool out there for it.
Court,
Since your using adsense as monetization, what kind of WP theme are you using? 2-column,3-column, magazine theme? I’m asking because I’ve been testing some of my adsense sites with magazine themes, and they seem not to work that well.
Paul
Great question Paul! I’m actually using a 2-column with the sidebar on the right side. This particular site uses two Adsense units. The first is a large rectangle at the top of the post, with the text of the post wrapping around it. The second is a medium rectangle directly beneath the posts. The large rectangle gets most of the clicks on this particular site, but after testing I’ve found that the medium rectangle is also worthwhile.
Thanks for the input Court. I’m starting to realize the less attractive the better. With my magazine themes my bounce rate is much lower, which means people are reading my content, but not clicking ads. With my basic adsense themes(I’m currently using 3-column), add a basic header, and I usually see a higher CTR on my adsense ads. But it also depends on the niche also….
Paul
Court,
You mentioned that you made $561 in earnings before UAW without promotions or anything. That means no directory submissions, no blog comments, no article submissions (Ezine Articles, etc.), no press release submissions, no rss submission, no nothing?
You mean you just have contents on your blog and all the traffic was from the search engines without all of the above? Whoah!
Juzz.
Hi everyone.
Court, your right!!
The 2 coluns is the best theme for adsense.
And the large square on top, just bellow the header, got the best CTR.
For blogspot bloggers, use the minima template (with a header tweak) just like grizz …
Cumps to all
AF
Hey Court,
If you’re submitting an article a day and each article links to 2 different pages on a domain and that is submitted to 50 sites a day…
Then by day 20-24 you will be getting around 1k backlinks a day, isn’t this a bit much?
I’ve seen others suggest to submit only 2 articles for a site in a months time (with 2 links per article, that means you can only improve the backlinks to 4 pages on a site per month)…
What frequency of article submissions would you suggest to build backlinks for a site? 1 article a day for 30 days? 1 article a week? or 2 articles a month?
Essentially, what is your plan for marketing a site with UAW?
Thanks,
-Mike
I have to say I concur with the majority of what is being said here. I am gonna have to have to grab the feed so I can keep tabs. on what is going on around here.
I too have been following ur experience with fair bit of success…
