30 Articles In 30 Days

Let’s do a little experiment to keep things interesting around here…

I have a site that has made $561 in the last 30 days and I’m going to do a little test to see how much improvement I can get from a very limited amount of work. What I’m going to do is write one article each day to help improve traffic and we’re going to use Unique Article Wizard to submit the articles.

After 30 days (that will be 30 articles) I’m going to reevaluate to see how much benefit I got. I have a few things to work against including the fact that Adsense revenues are usually a lot better in December than they are in January but that’s ok. We’re just going to see how this goes and I bet we can beat the income for the last 30 days anyway.

If anyone out there would like to join in the experiment it would be interesting to see how well someone else can do with this.

  1. Sounds good. I like the challenge. It would be doubly interesting to see how it would work if you compare the results with another service like AMA.

Regardless, 30 days and 30 articles would help just about anybody.

  2. Man, 30 articles in 30 days would be rough with UAW… Good luck w/ that…

  3. Although I don’t have a subscription to UAW, I’ve considered doing the 30 ezine articles in 30 days for the same purpose. When will you start?

    • I started yesterday Lisa!! 30 articles for Ezine in 30 days would be interesting – let me know how that goes!

  4. BEST OF LUCK LETS SEE IF YOU CAN DO WHAT I HAVE BEEN TRYING FOR LONG

  5. I tried UAW but I saw the directory list and it seems below sub par. Lots of blogs that get no traffic and are not indexed. I don’t think is worth 67 a month. I like the spinning function but I’ll use jet spinner for that and use a manual article submitter to auto submit. I like the idea of UAW but looking at what they submit too, I don’t really know if that will add a lot of value..mostly it is pr0 or gray bar sites.

    thoughts?

    • As far as links go Matt, article links are the bottom of the barrel. They pretty much submit to all of the article directories that everyone else submits to and on top of that, they submit to a bunch of blogs. If you’re using a manual article submitter you’ll get into the same directories that UAW will get you into and you won’t get into any of the other sites.

Without debating too much theory here I’m just going to say that you can get a lot of ground with PR0 links. You’re right though, people should know that these links are usually PR0.

      • well, if like u said, it all the same, then why not submit urself and save urself 70 dollars? digixmas is a free semi auto submitter.

        • It isn’t the same. Like I said before, you don’t get submitted to any of the other sites and the time factor is totally different.

Obviously Matt you are of the ‘money saver’ mentality. I’m not – I’m of the ‘time saver’ mentality. If $67 gets me more links with less time that’s what I’m going to do. Not paying the $67 would cost me a ton of money in lost time if I was going to use a semi-automatic submitter like digixmas.

  6. Yeah I will do it! I need to build links throughout January. I am not looking for revenue (even though I may get some), I am looking to build links and write some more articles for my site.

  7. Cool one! Are you going to give us tips on the structure of articles and so on as you go on the journey? Obviously you can’t give away the domain or the niche, but it would be useful to know the structure of the website in question just so that we can get a good look into the process..

    • Sure Chris I can give a little advice on how to do the structure of the site. ;)

  8. I’d like to know a little more about the approach you’re taking. Some questions:

    1. Are you targeting just your primary keyword in your backlink within each article or are you rotating with secondary keywords or variations of the primary keywords?

    2. Are you targeting just the front page of your site with each article’s backlink or are you rotating links to the front page with links to deep pages?

    3. Are you spending any time deciding what keyword to target for each article or are you just writing random things within the general topic?

    4. Related to number 3, are you being careful not to create more competition for your site with your articles or are you just staying away from your primary keyword and winging it?

    5. Are you using a the gradual distribution option in UAW for each article, and if so, what are you setting it to (how many articles are you setting it to distribute each day for each article submitted?).

    6. I assume you’re spinning every article, right?

    7. Will you do anything else for this website over this period? Any other promotions, backlink campaigns or any other updates to the site itself?

Sounds like an interesting experiment. I’m curious to know the answers to my questions and I’m eager to see the results at the end of January.

    Thanks. :)

    • Wow Sun!! I’ll have my people send you a bill after this – totally joking. :)

      1. Are you targeting just your primary keyword in your backlink within each article or are you rotating with secondary keywords or variations of the primary keywords?

I’ll be working with a lot of different keywords and URLs. The best way to use articles to improve is by taking long tail keywords that are already rank for and use the articles to move up. I’ll be mining keywords from my stats and will then look to improve by pointing more links.

      2. Are you targeting just the front page of your site with each article’s backlink or are you rotating links to the front page with links to deep pages?

I’ll be using mostly deep links for this experiment.

      3. Are you spending any time deciding what keyword to target for each article or are you just writing random things within the general topic?

I always take the time to make sure that the keywords I go after will pay out. If you want to learn more about this, you should read our email series.

      4. Related to number 3, are you being careful not to create more competition for your site with your articles or are you just staying away from your primary keyword and winging it?

If I couldn’t beat my own articles for rankings that would be a sad sad day. No, this isn’t something I worry about. You should be able to kill the rankings of your own articles.

      5. Are you using a the gradual distribution option in UAW for each article, and if so, what are you setting it to (how many articles are you setting it to distribute each day for each article submitted?).

I’m going to do 50 articles per day to slow it down a little. This site is about a year and a half old and on a newer site I would do less submissions per day.

      6. I assume you’re spinning every article, right?

      Of course

      7. Will you do anything else for this website over this period? Any other promotions, backlink campaigns or any other updates to the site itself?

No. I won’t be adding content and I won’t be doing anything else to build links.

  9. Everytime I attempt send an email regarding your service it fails. How can I contact you?

    Thanks

  10. Hey Court, just like Lisa above, I’m doing it with Ezine Articles. I have an account with UAW, but haven’t done anything with it yet.

When you say 30 articles in 30 days with UAW, you mean 30 original articles with 3 variations each right? So that means, you’re going to be submitting 30 x 3 = 90 articles within this 30 days? Or just 10 articles with 3 variations each, i.e. 10 x 3 = 30 articles?

Hope you know what I mean. Can’t wait to see your results with this method.

    • I’m going to have to create 90 to do this!

      • Wow Court, that’s gonna take a lot of work, time, patience, money (if you outsource), persistence and a whole lot of other things which internet newbies like me don’t have.

I admire your work ethics. Good luck to you. Make sure that you’ll share with us your success with this.

        Merry Christmas to all….

  11. Court,

I’m still new to this article marketing thing and you seem to know more than me. So can I ask some questions semi related to UAW:

    1. Say I write one article and submit it to 20 sites. How many would google count before they start recognizing duplicate content? Would only 3-4 links get counted or all 20? What about if I submitted the same article to 50 or 200 sites?

    2. How can you tell what the spun version of your articles on UAW look like?

    3. Have you ever tried jetsubmitter?

    • 1. All 20 links would be counted but would be discounted because of duplicate content. Discounted links are worth a lot more than no links. Matt to be honest I was able to make a ton of money using Article Marketer without spinning at all.

      2. UAW mixes and matches paragraphs from your three versions so that each site gets a version that’s at least a little different than versions submitted to other sites. You can also spin further if you want to use their symbols within the article. This isn’t something that I normally do but if you want more uniqueness in your submissions you can do that extra step.

      3. No I haven’t tried Jetsubmitter. If I start hearing good things about it I’ll try it out but from what I can tell the distribution network is very small. Honestly Matt you usually get what you pay for with this kind of thing and it’s no accident that the most expensive service is the one that seems to do the best job. I just made an expert UAW video that I’m going to give away to people that bought through my affiliate link and I show an article that got me over 300 indexed links in Google. Since Jetsubmitter only submits to 600 sites the index number will be more like 30-40.

  12. Hi Court,

I have been following your posts and comments for the last one year and must say that I have learnt a lot from your advice in this period.

Based upon your strong recommendation, I subscribed to Article Submitter for the last few months.

But this is one of your advice, which I REGRET to have followed. Repeat REGRET.

After submitting lots of articles, I found that they claim to be distributing your articles to more than 100 Directories / blogs, but in reality I have found that not more these are distributed to not more than 30-35 places. If you look at the quality of these directories, you will find that many of these are not fully indexed and Google has only 1000-2000 pages of them indexed. They are all running on same software / platform, and looks like they have been created just for the automatic submission. I seriously think that most of them are owned by them only and are TOTAL CRAP. They carry almost zero weight in the Google eyes.

When I look at these articles, I find that not even a single person has gone to these articles in more than two months, Total waste. You will not get any traffic from these and you will not even get any Google Juice from them.

I am still holding my account with AM, but I have not submitted any article to them for the last one month or so.

AND, I am fully convinced that instead of using AM or UAW or services like iSnare, it is better to stick to 4-5 quality Article Directories and submit to them manually. I am sure that these quality directories give your traffic as well as Google Juice. The links from them really carry some weight behind them.

If the experiment was for the submission to EZineArticles for 30 days, I would have been more interested in following.

I have no idea about UAW, but I have head similar critique about a iSnare also.

I thought to express my views, specially after following your advice, and purchasing AM subscription through your affiliate link on your website.

    Thanks,

    • Article Submitter? I’ve never told anyone to subscribe to that…

Also, if you’re doing article submissions to get direct traffic you’re wasting your time. I’ve NEVER said that would happen.

If you’re not getting it to work, you need to figure out what you’re doing wrong because you are definitely doing something wrong.

If it’s Article Marketer that you’re talking about, send me your login info and I’ll take a look at what you’ve submitted so far.

      • Yes Court,

I am sorry to say “Article Submitter” instead of “Article Marketer”. I was indeed talking about Article Marketer.

And if you are interested in having a look, my login name is desinet1.

But I wonder how you are going to look at it with only the username.

    • If you’re not getting article marketing to work for you it’s because you ain’t doing it properly. I have had awesome results using UAW, articlemarketer and isnare. And my results have improved accross several sites as recently as today (Dec 28, 2008) using only these services.

  13. Hi Court,

I’m a web designer, but I just started blogging in November, I have 2 blogs now the first one has more then 600 incoming links, and I started the second small blogs big because I wanted to experiment with marketing techniques, I started posting in it regularly just at the start of December. I’m trying to not use incoming links and concentrate more on content so I think that I’ll do something similar to your Idea and I;ll post 30 new posts in the next 30 days.

  14. Interedting, I’d love to do that with ehow.

  15. Sound good. I just write 10 articles in a month. I will try use your formulas. Thanks.

  16. Will you be posting an update partway through? I’m really curious as to how this is working out for you.

  17. Hello Court

Do you have some preliminary results already?
I’m eager to start working with UAW, but a lack of prooves stops me somehow.

    Wish you the best success!

  18. Court, just to understand this project (I know you have ended it already) but the 30 articles are being posted on your site right? This has nothing to do with building links (except for the internal links of course) right?

I was just wondering since a project of submitting these 30 articles to i.e. article directories might produce similar results.

  19. socio-literature

Its a good idea in hubbivity not only to make more income but also for boosting creativity of hub writers in a beautiful and unique manner….I also try this…

  20. I wrote 111 ehow articles in 30 days, my goal was 333 in 3 month – but work has gotten very busy for me, so I doubt I will reach that goal. I posted screen shots each week of my ehow earnings on my blog – Residual and Royalties.

    Good luck!

    Michael-John Wolfe

  21. Great work! I also have my own blog I just find it hard to write quality content like this.

  22. Great article…….Thanks for sharing ur experience.

  23. This is an interesting post. I would like to know how your endeavors worked out. I also do a lot of article marketing and I’m hoping it will work.
