After talking to quite a few business owners, it’s become pretty apparent that implementing search engine optimization strategies is much harder than learning about them. People often feel that their sites are different than the ones we talk about online. You may have an ecommerce store or a business that’s different from what’s normally talked about here. You might not know how to make some of the changes to your site.
In the next 30 days, I wanted to walk through 30 different techniques that can be used for better optimization. Whether you have a niche site, a blog, an ecommerce store, or any other type of site, you should be able to benefit from these lessons. I’m going to highly encourage each of you to ask questions. If your site is different from the examples, let us know. We can probably figure out together how to make your site work with the lessons.
Pick a page that you want to optimize. It can be a home page or any other page. 30 days to better SEO has already begun:
- Day 1 – Optimizing Your HTML Title
- Day 2 – Improving The Usefulness Of Your Web Page
- Day 3 – Optimizing Your Body Text
- Day 4 – Extending Your Domain Registration Length For Better SEO
- Day 5 – Increasing Your Internal Links
- Day 6 – Add Content
- Day 7 – Prepare Yourself For Link Building
- Day 8 – Add A Blog To Your Site
- Day 9 – Get Links With EzineArticles
- Day 10 – Build Your List Of Industry Contacts
- Day 11 – Get Links With HubPages

I have a few website I want to build SEO traffic for so I will be closely following this post series!
Hi Court,
I’ve actually just decided to “start over” with a brand new blog. Right now there are only 3 posts on it. This is good timing, I’ll happily follow along with your 30 techniques.
Thanks,
Todd
Sounds awesome. My business relies on SEO so I would love to get your input on the best ways to accomplish top rankings.
I’ve been subscribed to your blog for a couple weeks now and find your information very valuable. Thanks for doing a 30-day series! Those seem to garner the best results.
Sounds interesting. Will these techniques work for bum marketing, i.e. where we rely on articles submitted to article directories, and those articles link to a thin niche site or blog?
I’m asking because Google seems to have de-indexed a number of my niche sites. Since the articles I put up on EZA, etc. are still OK and sending some traffic, I’m reluctant to throw away all the effort I’ve put in so far on these niches.
Brilliant idea Court. I’ll be the first to admit that the implementation part is by far the hardest of the two (learning vs. action).
So if you can get into how to make the processes fit into a busy day then please do.
Thanks,
Mikael
This is a great idea, both for people who have websites and can use these ideas to make instant changes, and for people like me who are just starting and can implement them from Day 1.
Thanks again, guys for doing such awesome work.

How about a musician site. I don’t have much content, just a brief bio and a page with samples of my original songs and how to purchase downloads. It gets very little traffic but has a PR2. I’ve tried changing the title to Folk Music By… for the search engines but the term “folk music” is very competitive.
I will be following along to see what I can learn new from this post!
Look forward to implementing some of your techniques on The Hockey Writers. Our traffic has been increasing nicely and naturally but it could always be better..
It should be a nice complement to Darren’s 30 refresher.
Thanks for the insight guys. It is material like this that makes you get off the sidelines and into the game.
Your 30 day series is packed with solid and conservative seo techniques. I’ve have been using them on a couple of test blogs with very nice results. Thank you in advance for your continued updates!
