Affiliate Marketing at The Keyword Academy?

Lately we’ve been considering expanding the scope of The Keyword Academy so that we cover affiliate marketing. We have also talked a little about possibly doing it on another site.

Honestly affiliate marketing is a pretty different ball game – a lot of different marketing concepts apply. Is this something that you guys would be interested in learning more about?

Right now I’m back and forth on this because there’s a lot that we would have to cover but it’s a great way to earn money. I personally am making a lot more through affiliate marketing than I am with Adsense and I know that the lessons would be really solid, I just want to make sure that there’s some interest there. What do you guys think?

  1. Absolutely! I have always had the idea that these sites I am starting with Adsense I would want to move quickly to Affiliate Marketing, switching Adsense for an offer and tracking the difference.

…But now you’ve got me worried… am I messing up my affiliate marketing future potential by creating these sites for Adsense when ‘a lot of different marketing concepts apply’, as you put it???

  2. You know Nate you can almost always make a change once the traffic starts to come. We’ve done this on The Keyword Academy quite a bit and I’ve done it on a bunch of other sites. Once the traffic starts to come you can survey it or otherwise get a feel for what they’re looking for. You will then obviously provide them with what they need. I don’t see any problem at all with making a change later on.

  3. Oh there is defiantly interest. Very strong interest.

I love getting AdSense clicks, but $10 – $25+ per sale in affiliate commissions sure add up a lot faster.

    • No doubt about that Cory. There are also some great affiliate opportunities that pay residuals and that’s pretty awesome.

  4. Hi Court

I dicovered your blogs and Griz’s a while back, & have read all through the archives & learned a huge amount – thanks for all the great info!

Anyhow, I feel like I have a fairly solid understanding of how to build and promote my Adsense sites now, so would love to have similar info concerning affiliate marketing too, as I’m more interested in going that route over the long term – as much as I like Adsense, I don’t really want all of my eggs in the one basket! So learning more about the differences in optimising a site for affiliate stuff as opposed to Adsense would be very useful.

    • Thanks for your input Cat! Affiliate marketing is a pretty great way to go, especially for people that really understand the psychology of it.

        Hello Court!

I love that staement and I’d LOVE to hear you elaborate on it!

  5. Hey Court, I’d love to learn more about affiliate marketing. I like your nuts and bolts approach as compared to some of the other ‘make money’ blogs. You and Mark are gifted teachers and make it easy to learn.

I tried affiliate marketing before, building LP’s and buying ads on adwords but I just couldn’t make it profitable like some people seem able to do. I’m more interested now in looking at affiliate offers and building real sites around them.

  6. I’d love to learn more about affiliate marketing as I assumed that’s where easylearn would end up. I just hope by “differnet psychology” means those ugly super long scrolling sites with lots of pictures of cars. I’ll do that if I have to, but I’ll feel dirty from it :)

    Thanks,
    Bill

  7. I emailed Mark about something like this last week. I thought that as long as I was going to be promoting some sort of SEO/Internet Marketing folks as an affiliate, why not have it be you guys?

If you are willing to go in depth with the “how to” of affiliate marketing then all the better.

  8. It’s a great idea, and I’d love to see how you guys approach the subject. The topic is drastically different though, and the tips and articles would not have a lot of overlap with the Keyword Academy — even if the premise of making passive income is the same.

My vote goes for a new site to discuss the topic.

  9. Myself and my forum moderator quote and link to your posts often at the 5 Star Affiliate forum. Your KW oriented and Internet marketing tips are great, BUT we’d love it if you’d cover more affiliate marketing related topics.

  10. Count me in as interested.

I definitely do not want Adsense to represent 100% of my online income for the long term.

  11. I’ve found this blog to be really informative with some interesting ideas so I would really like to get your take on affiliate marketing and where this can be complimentary to Adsense on a site (or otherwise) and also on the differences between your approach to it and the seemingly more common PPC approach to promoting it.

If your approach is an extension of your keyword approach, then I say keep it on this site, however if it veers away then I would start a different site

  12. You don’t really think people would disagree do you??? lol!

  13. I already do it… but would love to hear what you guys say about it…

I have one site that makes $15/day on 25 visitors a day…. not bad… I know it is definitely worth while.

Since google de-indexed my entire Adsense portfolio, i definitely want to expand on this. (they didn’t touch my sites that did not have adsense.)

  14. Hey Court,

I would be very interested in this as well. I started on the sniper course when it first opened and have been a little side-tracked by affiliate stuff, so I’d love to hear yours and Mark’s views on it.

Btw, I sent you a few questions recently about the ‘multiply your income’ webinar but didn’t receive a reply, do you think you could check to see if my email address is marked as junk mail by you mail server?

    Many thanks
    Ray

  15. I think it would be a great idea. I am fairly new to the keyword academy but I’ve already made some sites strictly for affiliate programs. I can see how the process is much different in choosing niches and setting up content. It would be nice to have some extra tutorials covering the affiliate marketing route.

  16. I would be interested in seeing more content on affiliate marketing, regardless of whether you post it here or somewhere else.

  17. I am very interested in affiliate marketing. More so than with advertising. This summer I’m going to play around with some blog types that aren’t traditionally SEO driven, and seeing if I can bring readers and an income stream to them with the kind of techniques I learn here. However, since this seems to be new ground, I need to be flexible on how build the model.

  18. I’d be interested in affiliate marketing info as well. Count me in.

  19. Yes, definitely interested.

  20. Just thought I’d add to the rest and say I can definitely use all the help I can get in regards to affiliate programs. You should never place your eggs in one basket (or so I hear) and so affiliates just add to the pot…

  21. Though I am sure I am not alone,I, for one, would one would be very interested in learning more about Affiliate Marketing from you. I, too, think it a great way to make money, but this whole game is new to me and the fact is I don’t know anything about the rules, so “think” is the operative word when I talk about niche marketing and making money online.

I can tell you this; when I have money to spare, I will be sending some your way to gain access to more of your marketing expertise. Grizzly says you are as knowledgeable about niche marketing as he is. That is recommendation enough for me. I want in!

Let’s start my training by telling me what WordPress plugin is used to create this Subscribe to Comments form?
    Cheers

  22. Kurt S.

I would definitely be interested in your views and techniques on affiliate marketing. I really appreciate all the info you make available on this site.

It’s your call of course, but it might be a good idea to start another site for the affiliate information. I’ve spent a lot of time on some sites trying to find a piece of information that I recalled seeing and needed to review. The bigger the site, the more difficult it can be to find specific things.

Whether you post it here or elsewhere, count me in.

  23. That would be great Court!

I think you should make a new site that focuses only on affiliate marketing and leave this site with adsense. Those are s odifferent fields of making money and it would be easier to follow both subjects if they where on separate site.

You could get more sites and link power to play on with a new site ;)

  24. Please, please, please… Here or on another blog I’m really interested in affiliate marketing and knowing the value of your AdSense lessons I’m eager to start learning affiliate marketing from you guys.

  25. I’m not against affiliate marketing but I don’t think it belongs here. What has always been great about you guys is that you are focused on one thing: Making Money with Adsense.

One of the MAJOR problems for people trying to make money online today is that they can’t keep their focus long enough to make something of it.

I am afraid that if you guys start talking about affiliate marketing as well you will drive TONS of “easily influenced” people to jump to affiliate marketing and then back to adsense and then to affiliate marketing and…..

You have been great at helping people stay focused and make money and I think that running the blog with dual topics will change it in a negative way.

If it is something that you feel like doing I think creating an additional blog on the topic would be beneficial instead.

    /Mikael

  26. Like most, I started w/affiliate marketing that continued bringing in money until my squidoo landing page went from getting about 500 visitors a week to ABSOLUTELY no traffic the last four days. So yes, I’d love to hear more.

    Buddy

  27. Yes yes yes PLEASE I would be VERY interested in learning more about affiliate marketing from you guys! Just the thought of it is exciting!

  28. I would really like to understand more about how to affectively use affiliate marketing tactics. I’m sure it would be very beneficial considering how good you are at explaining marketing concepts.
Thank you for all you have taught me.

  29. My vote is for a series of posts on affiliate marketing on the same blog. Both AdSense and AM are similar in that you’re selling your traffic to a merchant that owns a good or service, instead of selling a good or service that you own. And AM is still advertising–it’s just a bigger billboard with more bells and whistles than AdSense.

I’m primarily working on AdSense, but the instant gratification I get from my small affiliate site with a modest PPC ad campaign has helped me stay motivated while I go through the long process of getting search engine traffic.

  30. I think this is a great idea.

I have been visiting your site quite often but never commented until now. You have finally touched on a subject that I am passionate about.

I like learning all the strategies you guys teach because affiliate sites and adsense sites are basically the same in structure. I have to admit that even though I feel like I know my fair share to be successful, I have learned quite a bit from you guys.

I already build affiliate sites and I would love to see what strategies you guys use.

  31. Hi Guys,
I think an affiliate program of sorts would be a great idea. If it is as good as your adsense course, it will be great! I actually have gotten my first sites up and had the idea to eventually migrate them to affiliate programs. Thanks for all your help.

  32. I am very interested also, I think that it is vital that we diversify our online incomes to many different forms of income. The ever changing animal that the internet is, it would be devastating for all of our eggs to be in one basket, and then subsequently, have that basket disappear.

I have had moderate success at affiliate marketing, but would like to take my moderate to a full time income with a combination of my Adsense and affiliate sites.

Your success precedes you, and I think I am not alone when I say Bring it on!

  33. absolutely.

  34. If you know your affiliate marketing stuff as well as the Adsense stuff, I would love to read about it…

  35. A definite YES vote here. I know the money is there. I have had a few nice days with affiliate pages, but mostly very little success. I’d love some legitimate guidance along the lines of what you and Grizz have done with Adsense to help me establish some consistency. Here or on a separate blog doesn’t matter to me. It would be much appreciated.

  36. An other definite YESSSSSSSS. Personally I’ve followed a case study of building a dedicated site to affiliate marketing for various types of products. The site was built from scratch and you know what during the 1st 3 months it generated more than 11k !!! 1500 the 1st month, 3000 something the second and 6000 something the third.

In fact that what made me think about giving a chance to online business.

I’am still struggling with that site type that i built and hoping to find a framework for fixing it and improving it ’cause i think that is an other different game, far from building informative pages around a keyword even if the general guidelines for SEO are always the same.

hope to hear from you soon Markcourt

  37. Hello!

Mark and Court…if I never get another thing out of you in the way of instruction I will have done well meeting up with you!

The whole FREE PDF about ranking for keywords changed my life in Internet Marketing because it was the ONE BIG THING I needed!

I have a lot to learn but that one was great!

    Yes!!

Let’s talk about affiliate sales! As it is I haven’t even looked into adsense much and maybe I should.

If I wanted to learn about adsense where is the place I should start? I have an account already AND it has money due me in it! (an old dropped site)

    Thank you very much,

    Riley West

  38. It’s so hard to find good information these days, I have read a few of your posts and I am very impressed with your site. Thanks

    • Riley West

      Hello Folks!

You know what ought to be easy to sell? KYA! I haven’t done well yet. I sent 83 uniques, I got 0 sales.

I’ll report back when I’ve got 200 uniques and I’ll also sell up a bit on my links.

BTW, my Squidoo lenses ( 3 to 6 months old are starting to have decent traffic AND I am writing little blurbs that are putting that traffic at my money links. (relevant only)

But, I am incredibly slow at sales! Obviously I am not doing everything right.

It was about a half year ago that I adopted a “new plan”. That was to keep the old plan and try to do something everyday that will improve it.

      Thanks folks!

PS: Can I get a copy of the promotional Keyword Crash Course that I can brand and hand out? I could hand out LOTS of them!!
