I am very new to all of this. over the past few months I have had three main ideas that I know a lot about, and I know that they work, but I am not sure what to do to make them successful. My three topics are 1) A very easy to follow eating plan that will not only help you lose weight, but keep it off. It is not expensive, you don't have to order foods, spend a lot of time searching for several different ingredients to make meals, and the meals are inexpensive, quick to make, and they taste good. I spent a lot of time at two local grocery stores, that I know are easily accessible no matter what state you are in, and searched for inexpensive and easy to make food and snacks that taste good. I have found many options so you won't get bored eating the same things, and I have even listed them and have written out all the information and taken pictures of the food items at the grocery stores so you will be able to easily find it. My second topic is helping parents with troubled children or children that they feel has problems that they can not get under control. I have a child myself, and I have taken college courses over Child Development and Education along with Psychology and Sociology and even Science courses such as Anatomy and Physiology. All of these classes and my experiences with my own child, and the children I volunteer to help at a preschool gives me the credibility to help other parents. Such topicst that a lot of parents struggle with that I have solutions to are, potty training and terrible two's, punishment versus discipline, and with adolescents and teenagers I can help with communication issues, regaining and maintaining a calm and loving environment, and helping parents with discussing issues such as sex and drugs with their kids and what age is appropriate to start those conversations, and explain to parents how their energy and attitude needs to be in order to get their children to be comfortable enough to ask those uncomfortable questions about sex and not feel scared they will be punished if they had sex or tried a drug, and balancing being an assertive parent that your child respects but also a friend in some circumstances to where your child will always come to you first to ask for advice or just to talk about important issues. My third topic is about dog training. I have a full blooded female pit bull and a miniature dauchsand and most people would think that is crazy. I am a huge dog lover but my dogs know that I am the pack leader which is vital. My home has four acres of land and we have neighbors close by that have a lot of land too. I never put my dogs on chains. They run free outside and I do not have issues with it and they also have a doggie door so they can go outside at night to use the bathroom. I use a leash when I walk them but the leashes are relaxed the entire time and if a loud noise or something that startles them occurs, they look to me for protection and confidence. I can help dog owners learn more about being a pack leader, setting boundaries and being consistent, and how important it is to remember that dogs are dogs, not our children. It's hard not to treat them like your children, (I had that problem with my first dog and now realize how much of a difference it makes to have that understanding that your dog is not your child but you can still have a loving relationship while still having stability and having a healthy dog and family. I would love to find out what Court thinnks about my three ideas and how to utilize them to be successful. I am serious when I say that I have no idea how to get traffic, get a website, use key words that will make me stand out, etc. I do not have the type of personality to where I would want to be a blogger, but I still think these three topics could be used successfully, but I just don't know how. I also want to know if I would be able to charge a one time fee through pay pal for my diet regimen, (which is really a life-style change), and if I can charge money for those who want me to directly talk and focus on their situation, instead of me just discussing my topics in general to help the majority of people without them needing to actually talk with me, or have me end up being a blogger. I appreciate the help.

Hi Guys,
I agree about the blogging is a lot of work. I created a static "old school" website in a week, did a niche blog and that is sucking a lot of my time to keep it updated - I'm beginning to hate it.

Joined KWA last year, life got in the way and now I'm back - for good! Thanks for the clarity on this blogging thing. For those of us who really do not have the social personality, it makes more financial sense to do niche sites and really make the difference to our bottom line.

[...] no real argument here between the passive nature of these types of sites. Blogs really aren’t passive at all. You simply can’t go months at a time without posting on a blog and maintain the income levels [...]

I think that many people see 'blogging' as using WordPress (and maybe Blogger) as a content management system (CMS) for a site. It's almost become a generic term and it's good that you're making a distinction between what's actually going on in the site and the code behind the scenes driving it.

For example, OpTempo began as a more or less social blog but has evolved into a semi-static supersite. Traffic has remained stable even though I don't post very regularly. The only thing I miss out on traffic-wise is trends based search traffic.

As someone who makes a decent portion of his income from blogging, I can definitely confirm that it is not passive at all. There is a constant need to produce new content that will attract visitors. I'm not one of those social personalities, but I enjoy working on a project like a blog where I can see growth over a period of time.

I definitely agree about the part which talks about personality types. I don't plan on turning any of my supersites into a reader blog, but I am thinking about putting interesting news articles on the front end since it's interesting to me, and it will improve the look of the site. I also haven't been putting adsense on the home page of my supersites since my root keyword is not that targeted and to make it look less MFA.

My self-titled blog was NEVER anything to do with making money - but it did dispite me being in charge of it LOL. I'd agree with Leo re once you have trust the buying rate is a lot higher - I realised that me - the ultimate anti-consumer - did indeed buy online but only from people I "knew" - generally via a blog!

I think one of things greatly under-estimated online is the requirement for friends - not JV partnes - but people in the same business that you actually trust and that you can both help the other. Google is getting better and better at its algorithms - but it will never be able to figure out the "friend" factor - Griz has proved that fairly conclusively.

I agree with everything. Nothing is passive income and requires much attention. I started blogging a few months ago, not knowing anything. I have made a few affiliate sales but now want to move onto something a little more lucrative.

I put up a small e-commerce site a few months ago, did it totally wrong, but now I intend to try another more niche type site. I'm sure it will take considerable time and worry too.

But that is my point. Everything does. You just have to convince yourself it is worth it and you will survive. Next thing you know, you have survived.
