If you have created the content for your website, it’s time to get it into Google. If you haven’t been able to get that far, go back to the ‘how to make money online when you’re a beginner’ post and follow the steps that I have outlined.
Getting Into Google
Google’s massive index of websites includes each site they think is relevant. Obviously, you aren’t going to get any traffic from Google until you can get into Google.
Getting in is actually pretty simple – you have to show Google that you’re relevant and that’s quite simple. The only thing you have to do to convince them is get another site that’s already in to link to you.
If you have a site that’s in Google, getting in is easy because you can link to yourself. If you don’t, you’re going to have to find someone else to link to you and here are the two easiest ways to do that:
- Submit an article to EzineArticles.com. Ezine will publish your article for free and will allow you to link back to your site at the end of it. Doing this with three or four articles will give you a better chance at getting indexed (getting ‘indexed’ means getting in).
- Submit to social bookmarking/voting sites. You can use Social Marker to submit to a load of these sites and each will link back to you.
How Long Does It Take To Get In?
If you use both of these methods you can normally get your site into Google within 24 hours. It can take up to a week so don’t get nervous until a week has passed. If your site was built on Blogger it can take a little longer and this isn’t unusual.
What Not To Do
Do NOT submit your site to Google. This actually slows down the process and if you don’t believe me, test it. It’s the honest truth.

I agree 100%. I always get my sites indexed quickly by submitting something to ezinearticles.
Social Marker looks very cool but isn’t submitting your site to all those social bookmarking sites, Google bombing?
Also some blog commenting will get you there. In fact, if you drop comments on about 10 different blogs, I have never waited longer than about 48 hours for indexing. Doesn’t matter if they’re nofollow or not.
Hey Rob. I’m new to this and was thinking the same thing. So commenting on someone’s blog and including the URL to your site helps to get you indexed?
Isn’t this also a way to get a link to point to your site?
Sara – yes, it will get you indexed if you do it from a mixture of blogs. I usually leave about 10-20 comments on other blogs when I am trying to get a new site indexed. To seal the deal, I also do an article submission run, get a few directory links and then do some social bookmarking.
And yes, a blog comment can be a way to get a link to your site. (of varying value, depending on the blog)
Use all of the methods together – none of them is a silver bullet.

There’s truth to your comment about not submitting to Google. I never thought it would be true, but I’ve been disappointed by doing it and not seeing my new blog show up as quickly as I thought it would.

No, it means using Google’s service to add your site to the index.

I guess it slows down the process since only spammers need to use this tool and that Google will find legitimate sites by itself.
I started a test blog on Blogger. I submitted the first post to mixx. I was indexed in a few hours. Not sure how fast cause I didn’t keep checking. But it was pretty darn quick.

If you have a blog..then submiiiting your feed to feedage.com or feeedagg.com will get your indexed in as little as 15 minutes.

I used this tip about 10 days ago, and i was ranked very quickly. i really appreciate the “don’t submit your site to google” trick, but i wanted to ask if submitting your site to google after it has already been indexed would cause problems?

Great advice, to add to it i’d say you should shouldn’t ping your website, but definitely ping all new bookmarks + articles that link to your site. By doing that you’ll get those pages indexed faster and in turn have them follow the link to your site (which will then be indexed). Because you’d be sending the spiders to a more robust site like ezinearticles you don’t have the risk of showing up as being spam (unlike the millions of daily pings that people throw at them to their own sites).
A good free ping site is PingNinja. Its a lot faster than most other ping sites and is also completely free.

I have about 523 url listed but Google only indexed 134 url. Working on internal link should help Google indexed faster.
