I started a cleaning referall company all online and blew everyone out of the water because I had fifty different websites that all linked together, and like you said, you have to do the footwork. Now I am moving on to automobile sales, and it has taken me 120 hours to build 20 linking sites, but it is paying off. Each site is keyword specific (I.E. Make/model specific).
