How To Do Lazy Saturday Morning Keyword Brainstorming

One of the more effective methods that I use to find new keyword ideas for niches is… watching TV. Watching commercials is especially awesome. I’m going to do a simple keyword brainstorm exercise during the next 30 minutes. All I’m going to do is watch Sportscenter for 30 minutes, typing up the ideas that come to me while watching the show and the commercials:

  • injury/injuries (recovery, treatments, etc.)
  • NFL jerseys, NFL posters
  • online education, online schools, online degrees
  • outdoor microphones
  • football helmets, football helmets for kids, radio football helmets
  • energy drinks
  • improve credit score, check credit score, how to check credit score
  • motorcycle insurance, bike insurance
  • roadside assistance
  • cheap car insurance
  • down comforters
  • golf lessons, online golf school
  • beach vacations
  • striped ties
  • wireless microphones
  • wireless headsets, radio headsets
  • commercial ovens
  • best deodorants, deodorants, men’s deodorants
  • hunger control, appetite control, appetite suppressants
  • best chocolate, best tasting chocolate
  • cactus plants
  • running tips
  • online meetings, online presentations, online business tips
  • online dating, online relationships, relationship compatability
  • longest lasting batteries, lithium batteries, high tech batteries
  • best car rental
  • pink digital cameras
  • disneyworld vacations, disneyworld tickets

Three commercial breaks and plenty of keyword ideas. Now it’s on me to go through these, expand upon these ideas, and analyze the CPCs, search volume, and competition.

  1. Ha, cool post Court! I’m loving the fact that you are posting so much. Who are your picks for the games?

I’m thinkin: Jets, Cowboys, Pats, Packers

I’ll have to do a lil brainstormin while watching

    • Jets, Eagles, Pats, Packers :)

Picking football teams is like picking keywords most of them don’t turn out.

I thought for sure the Eagles were going to beat Dallas. Good to see the Pats lose for a change. Packers should win.

  2. nice… :)

  3. Sounds like a great idea!

  4. I have been doing this for sometime now, however I also listen to radio commercials while driving, walking through the mall looking at signs, etc. I have begun carrying a little notebook with me to jot things down as I see them, hear them or read them during the day.

Found some good ones this way!

  5. Quite interesting. I’ve never actually utilized television commercials in my keyword brainstorming. And now it seems quite obvious, if it is being advertised on TV, there’s gotta be at least some of it on the internet.
