For the last week, I have been working as much as possible on my new make money experiment. The point of this experiment is to create 100 targeted blog posts within a 30 day period while tracking my earnings.
The first step in the process was to plan out the posts. That actually took almost a full week in itself. After I had everything ready I started writing.
Results July 27 – August 2
So far I have been able to write 25 posts and they’ve been absolutely killing it. I didn’t in my wildest dreams think that they would produce $371.98:
As you can see, I’m monetizing with Google Adsense and am using two ad units on the posts. One of the ads is placed within the post and the other is placed under it.
Obviously anyone would be happy with these results. Assuming that I don’t improve over the next three weeks, this experiment will put an extra $1594.20 in my pocket.
Planning Is Everything
Honestly I couldn’t have done this without a lot of planning. You can’t just throw up any 25 posts and expect this to happen. Before I even started writing posts I found 100 keywords with two important characteristics:
- They had the potential to make a lot of money.
- They were somewhat easy to rank for.
In order to make good money with Google Adsense, you have to have a solid foundation of keyword research and SEO. If you can’t pick the right keywords, you’re not going to be able to make it work with Adsense. The days of throwing up content and making a lot of money are over. You have to be a lot more put together than you did in the past. Choosing the right keywords to go after is crucial.
You can use the Adwords keyword tool to check both search volume and CPC and with these numbers, the higher the better. I use a formula to calculate exactly how much I think I can produce with a keyword in a month and these 25 keywords are worth $7366.47 per month. I honestly didn’t think that they would start producing this quickly but if you consider the potential of the keywords, it isn’t too, too crazy.

The Next Week
During the next week, I’m going to try to finish at least 25 more posts. The strategy is obviously working and I don’t see any reason to change it. I’m secretly hoping that I’ll be able to finish more like 35 posts but we’ll see how much time I have. Life is pretty busy right now!

But another part of the equation is the traffic, no?
It’s not like if somewhere were to write the same 25 articles with the same keywords that they will be generated this revenue?
Were your articles powered by some existing traffic source or was it a fresh site with fresh 25 articles and just natural SEO?
Sorry Mike I’m not 100% sure what you’re asking me. The traffic is new search traffic.
I just wanted to know whether it was natural traffic or some existing traffic.
For example.. 25 NEW articles on JohnChow or Shoemoney or your site will generate more Adsense impressions (hence higher revenue) than on some new blog with no previous traffic.
Cool – it’s all from search traffic. The domain isn’t new though – it’s over a year old.
What sites are you putting these up on? Are they preestablished blogs? new blogs? hubpages?
I’m putting them all up on one site – it’s a self-hosted WordPress blog that’s been online for about a year.

I’m glad to see these results published. And very glad for you, Court, that it is working for well for you. I’ve been making money from AdSense for years, and despite the negativity so often heard, AdSense has never bene better.
I can’t understand the current mini-craze for Hub Pages and such, when it is so easy to get one’s own pages into the mix. Two hints to all, PR means nothing here and traffic means very little … relevancy (LSI) means nearly everything.

1) This blog that you’re working on, before this experiment, was it niche-specific or was it a blog that contains articles targeting several different niches?
2) For these 100 blog posts, are they all :
a) targeting the same keyword within a specific niche
b) targeting several keywords within a specific niche
c) targeting several keywords covering several niches
3) Are you doing anything to get backlinks? Or are you just doing the blog posts and let the backlinks come naturally? Coz I’m thinking, will any blog post gets a good rank in Google SERP without any quality backlinks

court do you think targeting 5 month old blogspot blog should generate. i want it to improve it to 10- 15$ per day in 30 days. by 30 Posts. Is it possible for this type of blog to perform.
I get click whenever i get search engine traffic. conversion is 20% and more. I have make money blog.
I just realized the numbers doesn’t add up. It’s off by a penny, it should be $371.97. Does Google occassionally have rounding up/down problem?

I’m pretty amazed with 300++ usd in the first week. I know from a friend that just posting 10 good articles in a day will produce few hundred $$ in 2 months from a zero blog. I’ve seen that before. But I wonder, what 25 articles you had to produce $371.98… was it a new blog too?
I had the same problem with paypal… I believethe question is I dont have a credit card validated on it (cause I dont have a credit card…),and this kind of payment needs one, since it is recorring. Any way to solve this (besides get a credit card…)?
