Make Money Online With HubPages Week 2 Update

It’s time for an update on my most recent make money experiment on HubPages. If you missed the first update you can read it here: Make Money With HubPages Update 1.

Week 2 went really well. During the seven days of week 2 my hubs produced $112.56:

On the worst day of week 2, my hubs made $8.01 and on the best day they made $23.21. The average day of week 2 produced $16.08. Multiply that out over a 30 day period and you’re looking at $482.40. I still expect that number to grow a lot for month 2 – that’s just how it works. With a little more age these hubs will start to do better in Google, Yahoo, and MSN and that will bring more traffic and more revenue.

New Income Estimates

Since week 2 was surprisingly strong, I need to adjust my estimates for growth. I thought that the experiment would make at least $300 for the month and it has already made $168.76. I think that it should make at least triple that number in month 1, which would give us $506.28. The hubs should easily be able to triple that number for month 2 so I’m going to raise my month 2 estimate to $1500.

I now have over half of the hubs done. I planned on having them all done by this weekened but I’m a little behind that pace. It might take me the entire month to finish all 100.

General Advice For Making Money With HubPages

  • Target non-competitive keyword phrases that have decent Adwords CPCs.
  • Make solid hubs. Most of my hubs are at least 800 original words and contain useful links, feeds, news, and videos.
  • Give links from hubs to related hubs that you have.

  1. Good to hear you are doing so well with the hubs, Court. I’m finally having some success with my hubs after a frustrating 10 days, lol.

I’ve just reached 100 hubs now and I’m now starting to see some money. I started on the wrong track several times. I think a good 50-60 or my hubs are no performers. However, I’ve been getting a solid 4-6 bucks a day the past few days now, so I think i’ve gotten a feel for what works now.

I’m eager to use the next 100-150 hubs — they should do much better know that I know what works. I’m pretty confident I can get up from 4/5 bucks a day to 20 bucks a day by the 200/250 hub mark now that I know what works and what doesn’t.

    Some points:

    -no to low competition niches
-target HIGH HIGH CPC niches. Yesterday, I only had a couple clicks, but each click gave me 2 bucks.
-link related hubs together. Try to vary text.
-back hubs up with backlinks (ezine articles work wonderful here). Starting from next week, I’m going write an ezine article for every 3 of my hubs to back it up.
    -don’t give up!

The main thing is to be persistent!

    • Ben I’m WAY happy to hear that you continued forward. Think about how much more you understand than you did before starting this. Your next 100 will outperform the first 100 in a huge way. Dang I love to read stuff like this.

  2. Hi Court:

I assume you already had an AdSense account before setting up with HubPages. Did you use that account you already had, or a different one through a HubPages setup of some way.

I would really like to set up a separate AdSense account for HubPages, as I think Google has SLAPPED me on my regular sites and blogs. I haven’t been able to figure that out; my SERPs have dropped from page one and close for my various keyphrases to the pits.

I figure that if I link back from my Hubs to my original sites/blogs, but the AdSense account ID is the same, it will just be wasted effort for me to do a bunch of Hubs. What do you think?

    Regards,
    Dave B

    • I’m using one of my existing accounts. You could get a different one but it would take jumping through some hoops. You would probably have to use another person’s name or set up a legal business that you can use for your second account.

  3. hi court

    congrats on the progres

i have registered for your course a week or two ago and the material is really informative, and now to hear about hubpages and how much you can profit from it is great!

i am currently doing 30 hubs in a month and folowing your advice

but i want to check with you if im doing it right

for one hubpage post i am planing to link back to it one ezine article and 3 articles from your article directories you offer for the academy course

and for related hubpage how many should i link in my hubpage? would 3 do or should i keep it at 5 and over, is there like a limit on how many hubpage i should mention in my hubpage post ( what i mean by mention is put a link from my hubpage to other hubpages :D )

thank and hope you find more success

    • mareema I would recommend doing at least as much as I have recommended. Do you have forum access? There are a lot of good threads in there about this.

  4. Wow, great results Court!

I didn’t do as well this week, only making around $16 but I’m still pretty pleased. I’m not getting that much in Adsense, but more in the Amazon affiliate program (but that’s because I’m already pretty experienced at that, and Adsense is newer to me).

I’m still very excited because this is still with only 20 hubs so far – if I can average around $1 per hub per week which is what it’s looking like at the moment I’m quite happy to continue building hubs well after the challenge is finished.

    Tracey :)

    • Tracey $16 is awesome for this early in the game!! Keep going forward and you’ll really have something after all is said and done.

  5. This is the real stuff that make money online bloggers should teach people.Instead all the popular bloggers talk just shit !But you are marvellous, court and Mark. The only people i respect are Grizz, court and Mark in make money bloggers network.

    • Ricky I really appreciate your kind words and I of course agree – people don’t care about teaching most of the time.

  6. Hi Court, I’m still curious as to what KW tool you’re using to find the KWs you’re targeting?

  7. You make it sound so easy to make money online. I’ve been following for what, a year now? I know it’s a lot of work though, so I haven’t done anything yet…..

    • Amy I wouldn’t say it’s easy! I have a system that works and I just keep using it. I work really hard and would NEVER say that I don’t.

  8. Hey Court,

Great work on your experiment! I’m curious how you’re able to track your Google Adsense earnings? They don’t show up on my Adsense account but I notice I’ll have made some money with no clicks showing for it in the report.

I also noticed on the Affiliate page for Hubpages they said you could link up your Google Analytics account to Hubs, but have you figured out how to do that? I’d like to see what searches are bringing traffic to my hubs… Any help would be appreciated…Thanks again

    • MC I linked my Adsense account to a Google Analytics account! I can see everything you’re looking for.

  9. I have started a couple of hubs thus far and did not think about referring them to each other even though they are in the same topic area.

Thanks for keeping us updated. Even if I make only $1 it is more than I had before. I take these as learning lessons and if I reap any kind of reward well than that is great!

I look forward to learning more from you guys!

  10. Wow, pretty impressive. I am pulling in a daily $7 a day, now. I have lots of traffic, (900 impressions a day) but my niche doesn’t pay so much.

  11. That’s a nice sum Joshua!

This has been a great learning experience. I think i’ve found a model that finally works. It only took me about 75 hubs to do so, lol. Previously I was going after higher traffic levels (over 1.5k people a month). However, I’ve switched tactics and am now going for the 2 – 8 visitors a day, with the 2-3 dollar clicks, rather than 50 visitors a day with .25 cent clicks.

I only get a couple clicks a day right now (4-6), but each of those clicks are usually 1-2 dollars. A good 50-60 of my hubs won’t really pull in traffic (too competetive) or get clicks at all.

I’m very impressed with Court’s progress though. He’s got 30% more hubs than I, yet he’s making 3 times what I am so far.

I know now that Hubpage earnings are really dependent on your niche selection and competition, especially if you want to start earning right off the bat, without doing backlink work.

I’ve decided to create 100 ezine articles the next two weeks and link and use them to link the my 200+ hubs that i’ll have. That should help I think.

    Keep it up everyone!

  12. So in month 2 you expect your hubs to average only 50cents a day?

  13. very interesting

I created 2 new hubs under a new account today and already I’m seeing a steady decrease in their value. my hubscore is zero lol.

When I created 4 hubpages for another keyword 2 weeks ago I started with a score of 34 and now I am up to 86.

  14. I am not taking part in the crazy hub challenge, yet I am just trying to create as much hubs that I have time to create. I am up to 24 hubs now in less than a month and I am getting zero profit. I did not do too much keyword research as most of the hubs are created mainly to provide quality backlinks to my niche sites.

I really need to be asking this… Do you write all your hubs yourself?

    @ Ben K

How do you manage to write 100 ezines in two weeks? That is a little bit over 7 articles a day. That’s about four hours every day. How do you have time to do anything else? Do you outsource the articles?

  15. Phillip. Outsourcing is one way to do something like this — but you would need to do the keyword research for the 100 or so articles and would take some planning.

We’ll, so far in about 2 and a half weeks, I’ve written 116 hubs all of them between 500 words to 1000 words, with the average being 700-800 words. Hubs take much longer than ezine articles because you add links, pictures, tags, etc. With my ezines, I’m only writing 250 word ones soly for the purpose of backing up my niches. However, I can always use em to send links to my blog or .com niches as well.

YOu can accomplish a lot of work in just a single month, if you are really willing to put in the work. IN a single month, I’ll have 200-250 hubs and 100 ezine articles — something that the average person dabbling in MMO stuff might take a year or two or maybe never.

Guess that didn’t answer the question. How is it possible to write some many hubs and ezines? I work a regular job for 11 hours a day. This means instead of getting up at 8 am to head to work, I get up at 5:30 or 6 and spend the time writing 2-4 hubs. Fortunetly, at my job, I can get away with um…working on my MMO stuff in between projects. I usually can crank out 6 or so hubs during the day (if I really bust ass, then 8). When I get home around 7pm, I immedietly start writing hubs from 7-12 pm — I can usually crank out another 4-6 hubs/ezine articles. I also spend a lot of time on saturdays and sundays doing this to.

So that’s how you can work a full time job and write 8-15 articles/hubs a day. I can handle this, but most people would probably go mad. However, MMO takes some serious time and dedication. I’m sure if you as Grizz, Court, Vic or any of the experts how much they work at MMO and they’ll tell you they’ve spent or spend huge amounts of time.

    Hope that helps!

  16. @Phillip

Also, if you aren’t seeing money, don’t despair. YOu can check my make money online blog for a documentation of hub experiement for some details and tips on it.

But, I wrote like 40-50 hubs and I only made a couple bucks. Keep in mind that I did keyword research and carefully chose the niches. Even that didn’t get me any money. I could have given up, but I wanted to find out HOW it was done.

I think by the time I hit the 70 hub mark, I made a total of 4 or so bucks in like 10 days. Pretty depressing, especially since Court was making like 6 or so bucks a day. I still kept on going and finally after 116 hubs, I am seeing some steady, tangible money from the hubs now (all adsense). It took me writing 70 hubs to figure out what worked and what didn’t. Now that I KNOW what to do, i’m just replicating this. I’m very impressed with hubpages now.

The effort is worth it though. There is nothing like going to sleep last night, waking up today and finding you made $7 in adsense revenue from your hubpages while sleeping.

    BenK

    • Thanks for your reply. I read your blog and I really got a good idea on how you create your hubs. I got inspired from this and created three new hubs with some keyword research.

  17. Hey guys, been following you for a while but quite new to all of this stuff – been busy with school exams but thankfully are all over now!

Anyways, what I wanted to ask with HubPages is that are you creating more than one hum on the same topic/keyword? Or are you doing different keywords for each hub? If so, it must take some time to find all the right words!

Really appreciate all the help you give over the internet, may have to sign up to Crash Course soon to see if I can do something of it over holidays!

    Crashin

  18. WOW. I honestly thought at first you were full of crap. But you’ve proved me wrong! Thanks.

  19. have you guys noticed a mini google pr update going on? or is a full blown google update? pr for all my websites all went up by 1

  20. Hi, Court and Mark,
I’ve got just a quick question: do you create hubs only for now, or you’re doing a link building along the way?

  21. I’ve been getting quite hoooked on Hubpages recently, & this post & the comments are very encouraging!

  22. I have a couple of hubpages running right now. So far the income looks fair….not much, but could grow over time.

  23. I just got one first hub page up to a page rank of one. The traffic isn’t great yet but hopefully it will improve.

  24. Court,

Discovered your blog today and like what I see and have bookmarked. Yep, still an old dog for some reason still not gotten into using RSS much. LOL

On a serious note I’m really interested how your hubs in this test are performing. It’s been nearly 5 months since you began and I’m curious if there’s been much, if any, of a change on how fast or well low hanging fruit ranks NOW with hubpages.

Appreciate your feedback Court and look forward to learning more from you.

    James

  25. So how much money have you made from this since you started?

  26. Hubpages are probably one of those that people never talk about, thanks for informing me of this.
