Make Money Online With 100 Blog Posts In 30 Days

Last month we conducted a very successful make money experiment where we created content for HubPages. I created 100 hubs in 30 days and the experiment made over $450 during that month. This month those hubs are doing better than they did last month and I suspect that the trend will continue.

We’ve talked a lot about HubPages in the forum and people have asked what would happen if the same amount of content was added to their own sites.

Obviously I haven’t tested that out yet but I plan to. :)

HubPages will produce a lot more profit than you could get out of a brand new site. This is because HubPages is a strong site and it’s been around for a while. You aren’t going to be able to pull the same amount of traffic to a brand new site, pretty much no matter what.

The question in my mind is whether I can do the same experiment on a site that’s been around for a year and produce more/just-as-much profit. I know that not everyone has an older site to work with. If you’re in that position, this is what I would do to get things going:

  • Get some sites up NOW. With a Host Gator Baby account you can host as many sites as you want for less than $10 per month. There will be more experiments and lessons that you can use if you have a site. If you don’t have any sites you’ll feel like you’re missing out again and again.
  • Get your sites indexed. This will start the traffic clock now. As more time goes on, it will become easier to get traffic to these sites.
  • Use HubPages to build up cash flow to pay for your hosting. It isn’t hard at all to make $10/month on HubPages.

I personally have multiple sites that I started over a year ago and I’m going to use one of them for this experiment.

About The Experiment

This experiment will be a lot like the experiment that I did with HubPages, except instead of adding 100 articles to HubPages, I’ll be adding them to one of my existing sites as blog posts. The site runs on WordPress and the posts will be created around keywords that I believe I can get ranked for.

I’ll be tracking this experiment with a unique tracking channel in Adsense and will post the results each week. If you don’t want to miss any of the updates, make sure to subscribe to our RSS feed.

  1. I’m definitely looking forward to this one Court… I’m still plugging away with my Hubs and have completed about 150. I’m looking to finish 500 by the end of August in addition to their marketing.

If this new experiment works out well for you, I may give it a shot this fall. Keep up the great work!

  2. Hi Court,

Do you have one sample hub we can see. Just want to see the length, typical structure to gauge if I can do it myself.

Much appreciated for your help. You can email me if it better/easier.

    Thanks,
    Mike

  3. Hi Court,

When I first kicked off OpTempo in October of 2007 my plan was to do 200 posts in that month. I managed to do it, just barely. It was one of the contributing factors in getting that blog kicked off. It’s a lot of posts but it is doable and you can still do quality, if brief, posts.

Today, I’m more spread out over many niches and blogs but I still do at least 100 new pages a month on average.

    • Hey Frank! So good to hear from you. There are a lot of people who still haven’t quite connected that volume is a very large part of the game we play. It’s good to see other people that are willing to bust it for results. :)

    • Hi Frank, you are talking a total of 100 articles right and not 100 per site you have? (It is still impressive though)

      /Mikael

      • Yes, that would be 100 blog posts, articles, or the like total across all my sites. Sometimes it’s more and occasionally less if I have programming projects I’m working on.

  4. Hi Court,

You definitely blazed a trail with this experiment with nice earnings inside of 30 days.

I’m curious though, will this hub experiment and the upcoming 100 wordpress blog post experiment make your previous position of building profitable low maintenance snipe style blogs a thing of the past?

Are low maintenance, 5-10 page wordpress snipe blogs no longer viable?

Thanks for openly sharing your results.

    • Sunshine this is just one more way to make money. A lot of people insist on choosing one method over another when in reality they are all the exact same thing.

You create a keyword targeted web page and you promote that keyword targeted web page.

Sure, there are different ways to organize it and there are different places to place that web page but in the end, it’s all the same.

I’m trying to show people that there’s more than one way to achieve the same result.

  5. Thanks for the update… I was figuring they must be doing better as you have oftened written, age has a part to play in things.

  6. I’m down for this. Don’t plan to monetize with adsense though, but it’s my company’s blog, so at least 3 posts per day for the next 30 days…Done!

  7. Hi Court,

You did a nice job with hubpages. It’s going to be interesting how much money your hubs will make one year from now.

I’m taking your new experiment as a challenge and do the same on one of the blogs I’ve started last year, and which makes now less than $100 a month from AdSense. I’ll publish weekly progress reports, so we can compare. Shall we start on Monday?

    • Sounds fun Simonne! I think that I’ll be starting this weekend but I don’t think it matters if we’re off by a few days!

  8. Are all 100 posts going to be in the same niche?

  9. I have a website that would be perfect for this experiment. One question though:

If I have a subdomain that was indexed a year ago (subdomain.mainurl.com) does that mean that the main URL also has age according to Google even though I’ve only recently started posting articles on the main URL? Or is it only the subdomain that has aged??

    • If the main URL was indexed it will also be aged. If not, it probably won’t be!

  10. I miss the first experiment with the hubpages but still thinking about doing it. I have a blog that I been meaning to work on and thinking about trying this experiment.

  11. Sounds like another fun challenge.

I did really well with the hubpages challenge so I might take up this challenge as well, again on a smaller scale because I’m time poor here. So I’ll do 30 posts in 30 days.

I have an old site that I have a few posts on that I haven’t done much with and currently it gets virtually no traffic so this will be my ‘challenge’ site.

    Let the games begin.
    Tracey

  12. what is the experiment centered around, is it for CTRs and Page impression with adsense or what, i dont actually understand.

    • Hey edos! Like my experiments in the past, this one is centered around profits.

  13. Thanks I would love to folow your progress. I will subscribe yo your feed right now.

  14. Can’t wait to see the results. I also read through the keyword crash course, what an awesome report. I am looking to start my next site as we speak.
I also tested your ideas on my current blog. Before I came across your site I could only get around 20 to 30 visitors a day. Now, with just 3 new post I’m doing between 80 to 100 visits a day with nearly 60% all through the SE’s.
    Thanks for everything.

    Chris

  15. Hi Court, This sounds like an interesting experiment. Are you planning to do the same amount of backlinking per article as you did with hubs?

    • Somewhere in there Josh. I’ll be posting updates ‘on the inside’. :)

  16. I fancy having a go at the 100 blog posts in 30 days, but it seems like a tall order. However I see the massive potential that my blog would reap by doing it and I want to take my site onto the next level. So I guess I better move my lazy butt and get on with it, no excuses………

  17. If you planning to sell something on internet as a publisher for an affiliate product, I would suggest to check Clickbank Cash system that was just released. It teaches how to make money from Clickbank market place with video tutorials.

  18. Court, another motivational post. I must say you create much more interesting and useful posts than all of the A list bloggers I read (or should I say skim).

My only niggle is that it would be great if you gave much more detail on exactly what you are doing. Obviously not giving out info that would sway the experiment but practical how to stuff.

    • I’ll consider that when I post my updates! Just so you know, we did a webinar with our members that showed everything about the HubPages experiment. We’ll probably be doing the same with this one. They know exactly what I did.

  19. Patrick Delby

I am also going to write 100 blog posts on my blog and I will definitely give a weekly update here. Thanks for the challenge, keeps me motivated and strive for more work! more money! More chances of leaving my day job !

  20. Adrienne

Court, will you be doing this experiment on a site that is making good money already and try to take it to the next level, or on a site that really hasn’t caught on?

    • Adrienne this site is making decent money already and I’m going to try to take it to the next level with more posts. :)

  21. I’m looking forward for the success of this experiment!

  22. Very impressive 100 hubs in 30 days. Nice work Court. I like the way you explain this process so effortlessly!

I have a question. I am shopping hosting providers and have no experience at building websites or with codes or with ftp and so on.

Can you explain and list the top five reasons why I should use Host Gator? I understand why the Now and the baby part. I would like firsthand input and to learn how Host Gator can benefit a building dummie, as opposed to some other hosting provider.

    Great, thanks.
    newsworthy

    • Newsworthy you’re going to have to learn that stuff no matter who you choose. The biggest benefit of using Host Gator is that I have vids that walk you through doing it: http://thekeywordacademy.com/fast-start/.

I’m not going to list off five reasons but I personally use Host Gator for most of my sites and have been extremely happy with the up-time, reliability, and service.

  23. Just thought I’d ask the following question here because there are so many knowledgable people (and can’t find the answer elsewhere).

What does it mean when you get hits from Adwords to your site/hubs? Does this mean they are linking to you somehow?

    • Adwords is PPC traffic. If you’re getting that traffic to your hubs you’re either paying for it (which is against the HubPages terms of service) or your analytics is confused.

  24. I’m definitely not paying for Adwords. Perhaps Analytics is confused – it always lists the hits as Adwords non-paid referrals, and they seem to be from a single person (i.e. not new visits). How odd.

  25. Actually, delving into analytics, the hits are coming from several N American cities, and going to several hubs and Google Analytics is saying that the ad content is lpt4_landing_e2. What does that mean? Does it mean someone has bought adwords for some of my hubs?

It’s definitely not me purchasing adwords, can’t afford it (can’t even afford your $33 per month course at the mo – lost job etc etc).

    Am worried about this now.

    • Update: Just thought I’d pop in to say I’ve solved the mystery of the referrals from Adwords – they weren’t to my particular page at all, they were to another page and the visitor then clicked onto my page from the related page feature on the side of the hubs, but Analytics records the original referrer rather than “hubpages.com” as the referrer.

I tested this by using an obscure search engine (Lycos) so I knew the hit was from me, and typed in “hubpages” into the search engine. I then clicked on the link to the home page and logged in, and then visited a few of my pages. When I logged into Analytics, sure enough, it has logged the hit to each of the hubpages as being from Lycos with the keyword “hubpages”. But Hubpages’ own statistics didn’t show “lycos” at all, but recorded the hits to the hubs as from Hubpages. It also explains why the Hubpages stats never showed any of the Adwords referrals but Google Analytics did. So mystery solved.

  26. Love you guys, love your show!!

LOL no really, I forget how I came across your website but I am so glad that I did. Im starting your keyword crash course and checking your website all the time now. Just wanted to say THANKS!!!!

Do you have a podcast? I think I checked once but didnt find anything. What about Iphone app so I can get all this juicy goodness on the go as well??

Anyway, thank you thank you thank you!

  27. Hey Court,

I like the way you and Mark choose to go big on your projects. Have you guys considered a “100 new blogs in 100 days” theme? Could you imagine the volume and increase in revenue if you could swing it?

    That would be beautiful :)

    LarryG

    • Larry that would definitely be awesome! That would be a crazy big project. I think I’ll invite you to do that one and let me know how it goes. :)

      • Crazy big is right :) Maybe I will scale it back and go for 10 or 20…or maybe even 30 in thirty days.

I’ll let you know if I decide to take that one on :)

        Cheers,

        LarryG

  28. Sounds like another interesting experiment..definitely looking forward to future updates!….just curious, will the blog post lengths be 600-800 words each like your Hubs? Thats definitely a challenge with blogging..the blog I work on most gets around 60 posts in a month at most, and they aren’t near 600 words each..

  29. I have made a few pages on squidoo, however have not made any money yet. I need to make more and give it more time.
    Easy money making ideas

  30. How much does it cost to outsource 100 articles?

    A buck a piece?

    Five bucks?

    $10 would be $1K.

We need a webinar on outsourcing.

    • Walter we actually already have an outsourcing webinar! You can find it in the members’ area in the same place as the others. I think it was in April.

The cost depends on the length and the quality.

What you have to remember is that not too long ago I was writing all of my articles!!

    • If you go with something like Need-An-Article you can get 550 word articles for about $5.5 per article. Unless you have a really cheap outsourced assistant (or you’ll do it yourself) I think it will be hard to come up with something cheaper than that.

      Mikael

  31. Thanks, Court,

I will watch that one again.

Has anyone tried oDesk for outsourcing?

  32. anyone else having problems logging into the forum? The link to get there shows that it’s a bad redirect or something. annoying the crap out of me.

  33. so it’s a good thing that I only paid a buck for the trial…I can not access the forum when I login but can access the page if I’m not logged in. When I’m logged in and I click on the forum page, it stalls and then shows that it’s an invalid redirect. Is anyone else having this problem? I don’t care about the videos…I want to get into the forum to ask a simple question that’s been on my mind for awhile. I tried clicking on the support button too but it says that I have to be logged…so it kind of defeats the purpose of asking for help if I can’t even get access to the information…sigh.

I tried e-mailing Mark but no reply…I understand that their busy but still…

  34. When i was still a member i couldn’t log in so i decided to cancel my subscription. emailed them but no reply.

  35. Court,

Assume I have 100 articles for my blog ready to go.

    1. How many do I post to my blog?
    2. How many to I post to Squidoo?
    3. How many do I post to Hub Pages?
    4. How many to I post to blogger blog?

  36. 100 blog post in 30days, that would really be a challenge.I cant even come out with a post a day.

  37. Court,

What method or procedure do you use to get 100 keywords?

This is proving to be my biggest obstacle.

I have found only 35 so far and they are getting scarcer than hen’s teeth.

  38. Nice post, I’ve been doing affiliate marketing for some time now and have also done a couple of good reviews like the CB-Cash System Feel free to drop me a comment and I will comment on your blog as well.

  39. Hi Court,

Any chance you could update your Hub earnings regularly? The real interest is what happens over time with the adsense income.

    Thanks!!

  40. I am really like your post and easily find your point, hope that you can give more about this topic…

  41. Just wondering what the final tally was on the 100 Hub Pages for July?

  42. Great sharing here. I’m new in hubpages, these post give more ammo to posting my articles on hubpages and hoping thats article give me more adsense income :)
Thanks for your time to created this article :)

  43. Gannon Faul

    Hey Court,

  44. Gannon Faul

Hey Court, do you leave all of your blog posts open to comments? I created my first Blog site and working on some other but I turned that feature off, should I?

    thanks

  45. I signed up a couple of days ago but I am having trouble logining in. I was able to login the first day. It says my cookies are not enable but they are. I have emailed you by replying to a message you sent me but haven’t gotten a reply. Is there another email to contact you or support? Help! I want to get started with your program. I was able to logon the first day and watched part of the first video and learned so much!

  46. Does the Hub Names (ex. hubname.hubpage.com) play a role in search engines or is it irrelevant?

  47. Harrison Ennis

Joined, logged in to crash course ready to learn…Guess what…video does not play..
yes, I cliked the low band width sentence…not a good first impression for me, especially when there is no one to contact…submitted problem to forum…I could have put 6 hours of study in this evening…time wasted cannot be gotton back!!!

    H

  48. Hello,

Nice post! What if you suddenly stop adding posts to your blog? Will it affect your income? Or will it become self-sustaining now that it has several posts already? Thanks!

  49. thanks for the tip! you have a great idea. i will try to copy your success.

  50. I will be trying this.

  51. Maybe that’s an ignorant question, but if you posted 100 posts in hubpages, where are the other 89? Not under “courtneytuttle”, apparently. Or did you make yourself more aliases? KG

  52. This is all bullshit, I know for a fact! I have to laugh at some of your clowns making comments. Espically Chris, look at his comment here and on your other article, http://thekeywordacademy.com/make-money-website-experiment/. Please refer to PJ Barnum!

    • William,

Sorry this doesn’t work for you. Many of us following along with TKA are doing fine. Making money online. Perhaps you need coaching?

  53. Hey, I am interested in your course, but I want to know if your methods also fully apply on french or german speaking websites, or are english writing dependant.
And also, as I am interested in publishing articles on christian topics, if they also apply in these fields of interest or only on topics related to bestselling keywords.
Thanks for your advice and kind regards, Sophie

  54. Hi,

I beleive this can work and indeed had an old domain (registered back in 2004) that wasn’t being used for anything and after reading this article, I decided to try to post over 100 pages of content in 30 days (Which also included the site design) and I am off to a good start earning over $30 last month with adsense.

  55. To me everything you said is true but is not that easy making money online

  56. It’s amazing. 100 blog post in 30 days and earn money from it. I need to learn more from you…

  57. I am truly impressed with the broad content of your blog. It is obvious that you know you subject matter and you are passionate about it. If only I had your writing ability I have bookmarked your site and look forward to additional updates.

  58. Nice! I am new to this blog site. My friend recommended it to me. I am now thinking of joining the members area to get access to some premium content available only to members.
