The Best Affiliate Products Are Solutions To Problems

People who are trying to fix a problem are the most likely to buy products.

  • Finding a loan is the solution for not being able to pay cash for a home.
  • True information is the solution to misunderstanding.
  • Expertise is the solution for lack of confidence in something.
  • Healthy food or medication may be the solution to being overweight.

If you want to be able to sell affiliate products well with your sites, you will want to take some time to think about problems that you can solve. Here are a few things that I can think of:

  • Smoking (people want to quit and can’t)
  • Being overweight
  • Being broke
  • Lack of confidence
  • Unhealthy spending habits
  • Lack of knowledge (this can be knowledge of any type)
  • Anxiety
  • Stress

On top of these, there are tens of thousands of other problems that you can help people to solve. You should ask yourself if there are issues that you help people to solve offline.

The more you dig into any niche, the more you will get to know the problems people are having. In the internet marketing world, people have lots of problems. There are a lot of things that they don’t understand and in this world the biggest problem of all is lack of time. Not only are there plenty of books that could help people to manage their time, there are time-saving tools and techniques. Every niche is that way, there are problems to be solved, you just need to find out what they are. Do that, and you’re one step closer to making affiliate sales.

Many of you know the internet marketing world better than you know the niches/topics you cover with your sites. Digging in more deeply into your niches will definitely expose additional ways to make money with them.

  1. Completely agree with you. If you can fix someones problems then that product should sell.

    • It seems like an area where people go wrong is that they start with the products, instead of with the problems. Nice site BTW.

  2. Great Post. I do agree with, because when I was looking for a niche I had to dig deep and see what people are actually looking for and needing and thats how i found a good niche, research is key. thank you for the post good info!

  3. Court, the sooner an affiliate figures this out, the sooner they’ll make good money.

A lot of times it’s easy to try and sell people what you want to sell them (usually because it has a high affiliate payout) but if you become involved in the niche enough to know what people want, it becomes infinitely easier to sell them.

One way that I’ve been finding very handy to find out what people in the niche are talking about is to use Twitter search. Obviously not all niches will be represented on twitter, but many are and you’ll often be able to see some of the common questions/frustrations that people in the niche have. Find a product that solves the issue, and you’ll have a much easier time selling it.

    Solid post!

    • That’s probably a really good way to dig in to the niche – nicely done.

    • I also use Twitter Search for research and I have started teaching others how powerful it is.

In my opinion, I think Twitter search is the next generation Search Engine. There is speculation that Google wants to buy them.

I have been using it for about 3 months for research and the impact on my affiliate marketing campaigns have been tremendous.

Anybody reading this needs to really learn more about Twitter search because it is possibly the second best free research tool behind Google itself.

  4. Spying on people with Twitter is a pretty good idea. I never thought of that. I also like to use the niche forums. These are so awesome because you get a very clear picture of what your target audience wants, what questions they are asking for, what solutions are out there, and how you can fill that gap.

You can even post a topic on the forum and ask the people, what is your biggest question about this topic? What do you want most from this thing? Straight up ask them to get honest and workable answers you can use.

It’s also great for finding the longtail keywords that the free tools don’t give you.

    Just my own personal techniques.

  5. Hey Court,

This is a new site im thinking about joining what do you think about it? http://www.myarticlenetwork.com/

  6. Duh. I have been going about this backwards, to some extent. I see now where I am trying to shoehorn things in, instead of letting the customers tell me what’s up. Nice ideas by Brawny above as well.

  7. @ Tommie,

Great point about Twitter search. It’s going to be a very important tool in the near future, as it is now. I haven’t quite figured out the best way to use it, but I think there is a lot of great real time info you can dig into.

  8. BTW Court,

Nice post–what you say is true. And how did you get so many subscribers? I would love to read a post about how to get some more subscribers.

  9. Consistently my best producing products I promote are Diet Products, (yes even with all of the competition). How to get rid of (fill in the blank) health topics, or How to be better at (romance, love making, relationships)

I have heard it a million times when choosing a niche, and it is tried and true. Find a problem people are having, promote a solution, and sales will follow most certainly.

Thanks for bringing this back to peoples attention. Take heed. It doesn’t matter how much competition there is, if you find unique keywords in the vicinity of the topic, you will be in the money.
